Mellow Music Moments: Swallow The Sun ~ Liza Garza

You might already recognise this beautiful lady Liza Garza from Def Poetry Jam… I came across her when she came to London a few years back with her album Bloombeautiful and when MySpace was a place to browse and find new inspiring poets/artists/music (kinda miss those days lol!)… And she is BACK! Yay 🙂

Emmy Award-nominated Liza Garza is a poet, vocalist and songwriter. Infusing the cultural soul of Mexican folk tunes in modern ballads with the intricacy of Hip Hop rhyme schemes, she bridges the ancestral with the modern.  With perfomances that include The Lincoln Center, The Apollo, the National Association of Latino Arts & Culture, HBO Def Poetry Jam and numerous stages world wide, diverse people are finding a home in her voice
“I grew up in a house where music was the backbone to our lives, my first performance wasnt really a performance, it was just an intimate glimpse into my interpretation of love and life and pain, right in my parents living room, or my grandmothers living room, or my aunts living room, with all my family gathered with all their instruments and voices. this album is in honor of that intimacy, that heritage, that blessing. its super unplugged and raw and simple. pray yall find as much good in it as I have while creating it!”

Tune In!
